Chemical Peels

Advanced Skin + Body Aesthetics offers chemical peels performed by our esthetician. Chemical peeling is a procedure that aims to accelerate skin exfoliation by the use of chemical substances resulting in renewed, healthier looking skin and more uniform complexion. They can address the visible skin imperfections that result from skin aging and sun exposure, such as fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone and texture. Peels also address skin tone unevenness that can be caused by acne scarring or pigmentary changes.

We offer two chemical peels by SkinMedica®

Important Information

A chemical peel can leave a yellowish tinge on the skin which is expected to last no longer than 2-3 hours. Mild to moderate redness is expected after any type of chemical peel procedure. The extent of redness varies from patient to patient. The face may appear redder than usual for some time after the treatment and completely resolves after the peeling is complete. Since the new skin is more susceptible to sunburn, extra precautions should be taken to limit sun exposure for at least one week after the peel. It is imperative to use a broad spectrum sunscreen product with an SPF of 30 or higher. Treatments can be repeated every 3-4 weeks.

SkinMedica® peels should not be administered to pregnant or lactating women.

Before & After Results

Frequently Asked Questions

Would I need to stop any of my other treatments, routines, or products?
Yes, at least a week prior you peel you will need to avoid doing any electrolysis, waxing, depilatory creams, laser hair removal, shaving, exfoliating products, and stop any products that may be dry or irritating, including products that contain salicylic acid, alpha hydroxy acids, vitamin c, hydroquinone, retinoids, and some prescription medications.
What could I expect after my treatment?
After your peel, the skin may look and feel like a mild windburn for a few days.  After 48 hours a slight flaking/peeling may occur for 3 to 5 days.  You may use a mild moisturizer at this point, we recommend twice a day but can be applied more frequently for hydration and to decrease the appearance of flaking.  Avoid direct sun exposure and excessive heat.  No tanning beds for 2 weeks after your peel.
Would a chemical face peel help with fine line wrinkles and sun/age spots?

A medium chemical peel can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles and lighten sun or age spots on your skin, but it’s important to schedule a consultation before you try it because it can possibly cause redness and peeling for a few weeks. Always use sunscreen after the peel because your skin will be more sensitive to the sun.
