Botox Vs FillersWe don’t have to age the way our parents did! Though we can’t stop the aging process completely, we sure can slow it down. Botox® and facial fillers are affordable and minimally invasive procedures that can give your visage a subtle, yet noticeable, lift. However, they are not interchangeable! Each injectable has a specific purpose. Let us help you choose the treatment appropriate to address your needs.

Choosing Your Treatment

Botox® and facial fillers, like Juvadérm®, Belotero®, and Radiesse®, are not at all similar. They use different materials and processes, and are meant to treat different areas of the face.

Botox®

  • Uses OnabotulinumtoxinA, a neurotoxin derived from Clostridium botulinum.

Facial Fillers

  • Uses gel-like substances, typically a natural compound like hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxylapatite.
  • Injected under the skin to block the signal from the nerve to the muscle telling it to contract. Those contractions are what pulls on the skin, causing folds and eventually moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles.

  • Injected under skin to fill in facial lines and give volume and fullness to the face, which is often lost due to aging.
  • Used to treat:
    • Frown lines- muscles between eyebrows
    • Crow’s Feet- muscles around eyes
    • Forehead lines- muscles used to raise eyebrows

    • Used to treat:
      • Cheeks- restoring volume and definition
      • Nose and mouth- fills in and diminishes laugh and smile lines
      • Underneath eyes- softens and restores volume
      • Hands- fills in wrinkles
      • Lips- plumping
      • Chin- fills in chin crease
      • Improves general symmetry
    • You’ll typically notice results in 7-10 days, sometimes as soon as 3-5.
    • You will notice results immediately
    • Results will last 3-4 months.

    • Results last 6-24 months depending on type of filler, area treated, how much is used, and how fast your body metabolizes the material. A touch up halfway through the filler’s life can lengthen the duration of results.
    • Used when the lines are caused by repeated muscle contractions causing the skin to furrow and fold.
    • Used when the lines and hollows are caused by aging related volume loss, cellular changes, and reduction of collagen.
    • Quick, safe, and effective treatment. Botox® is the #1 selling treatment of its kind and the first to be FDA approved.
    • Quick, minimally invasive treatment with minimal downtime. Safe and effective.
